Bob Jones, an assistant coach for the Ottawa Senators, has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, the Canadian Press reports. The 41-year-old Jones, who's behind the bench for the first time this season, has taken a stand against the disease, which causes the loss of muscle control, and the Hockey News notes that he's taking it one day at a time. "I'm joking around with the players and keeping my spirits up, and that's all I can say," Jones said after Tuesday's practice. "We don't have a cure for it yet, but the only way we're going to get one is to support brave people like Jones in any way we can." Jones, who's also the team's strength and conditioning coach, says he'll continue to coach the rest of the season while dealing with the disease.
