Hamilton Bulldogs eliminated in Memorial Cup semifinal
The Regina Pats downed the Bulldogs 4-2 in the Memorial Cup semifinal on Friday night, bringing to an end an OHL championship-winning campaign that surpassed expectations for the Hamilton club. The game was a repeat of the tournament opener — a 3-2 Hamilton loss in which the Bulldogs struggled to keep pace with the well-rested Pats, who were playing for the first time since being eliminated from the playoffs 46 days earlier.

Last year, Auburn and Georgia met in the SEC Championship Game, with the Bulldogs winning the conference title before losing to Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. If this is indeed how things play out, Georgia and Alabama would meet in the SEC Championship Game in what would surely be an epic battle.

AD resigns amid strange controversy over player's eligibility
Earlier this month, the @NCHSAA upheld its decision that a Topsail High baseball player was ineligible, forcing the school to forfeit all but one win and give up playoff spot. Michael Postma told the Journal that he believes his son’s problems can be traced to a “crash” Alex experienced early in the school year that caused him to fall behind on coursework and — despite a move to an online program — ultimately drop two of those classes.
