Devin McCourty described experiencing subtle racism before he became famous
McCourty has gone on to be one of the most outspoken players in the NFL against racial injustice and even lobbied for aspects of the recent criminal justice reform bill signed into law in Massachusetts. As a team captain, McCourty said teammates came to him last fall to ask how to respond to President Donald Trump’s inflammatory attacks on the NFL and its players — Colin Kaepernick, specifically — for kneeling during the national anthem in protest of the treatment of black people by law enforcement in the United States.

Tyronn Lue’s brief tenure with Celtics fondly remembered
His NBA-mandated obligation fulfilled after a couple of minutes and a few brief answers, Lue bounded from the podium in the Garden press area, turning as if he were headed behind the black curtain that serves as backdrop. Spotting Jeff Twiss, the Celtics’ vice president of media services, and Heather Walker, the senior director of public relations, standing to the side of the podium, Lue greeted them with a hello, hug, and a handshake before departing.

Danny Ainge is not a thief
The Nets deal ended up a heist not because Ainge acquired so many first-rounders, but because he used them well (save for the squandered pick of the smooth but sluggish Young), often making his choice in the face of conventional wisdom. It certainly sounds like any laments Lue and the holdover Cavalier players had about the trade at the time it happened are bubbling to the surface now, as if they’re resigned to the fact that this series isn’t going to turn in their direction.

Unnamed Cavs Player: Danny Ainge Is A Thief
The Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics last offseason in a deal at least one unnamed player on the team thought was not equal value. “Danny Ainge is a (expletive) thief,” said the player after a loss during the regular season.

The Phoenix Suns got what they earned: The top pick in the NBA draft
This will be the last year the draft is held under the current framework, with the team with the worst record having a 25 percent chance of winning the lottery, and the odds going down from there — as well as the top three spots being determined by the drawing of ping-pong balls. One of the legendary figures in the sport, West — now a consultant with the Clippers — was realistic about his situation, accurately pointing out in an interview on ESPN that he’s got an incredibly small chance of doing anything but walking out of Chicago with the 12th and 13th picks in this year’s draft.

Hawks primer: Detailing Atlanta's checkered history with the NBA draft lottery
The Shaq-Penny union was destined to capture multiple titles, but that's not how things worked out: The Magic were swept by the Rockets in the 1995 NBA Finals; and the following summer, O'Neal signed with the Lakers as a free agent—something that likely wouldn't have happened under today's Collective Bargaining Agreement structure. SKINNY: Atlanta's former management team unwisely tipped their hand on Williams before Draft Night; and yet, just minutes before the selection, a number of Hawks fans thought the club was bluffing on Williams—a solid defender and rebounder, but without the necessary upside of a top-five pick.

What’s at stake for every team tied to this year’s NBA draft lottery
Atlanta Hawks: General Manager Travis Schlenk committed to a full rebuild when taking over a year ago, and hiring Lloyd Pierce — known for his player development skills — as his head coach last week. That would certainly come in handy for Cleveland, which would love a top three pick to equal either a prime young talent or a trade asset that can be used to lure more veteran help for LeBron James.

Here's Lebron James's complete playoff history against the Celtics
In the first Celtics vs. LeBron series, Boston was in its debut season with the new “Big Three.” Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce played especially large roles, while 23-year-old James led all scorers with 26.7 points per game. Of course, the loss of primary scorer Isaiah Thomas in Game 2 rendered the series outcome essentially beyond doubt (that, and Cleveland shooting 43.6 percent from three-point range).
