The Phoenix Suns got what they earned: The top pick in the NBA draft
This will be the last year the draft is held under the current framework, with the team with the worst record having a 25 percent chance of winning the lottery, and the odds going down from there — as well as the top three spots being determined by the drawing of ping-pong balls. One of the legendary figures in the sport, West — now a consultant with the Clippers — was realistic about his situation, accurately pointing out in an interview on ESPN that he’s got an incredibly small chance of doing anything but walking out of Chicago with the 12th and 13th picks in this year’s draft.

Deandre Ayton or Luka Doncic? Suns have massive decision to make with No. 1 pick
CHICAGO – If the decision was up to Phoenix forward Josh Jackson, the Suns would take Arizona center Deandre Ayton with the No. Kokoskov has referred to Doncic as a "wunderkind," and as such, it’s impossible to ignore the Real Madrid product as a potential No.

CHICAGO (AP) — Phoenix general manager Ryan McDonough was on stage moments after the NBA draft lottery ended, talking about the future of the Suns and mentioning how they had the best odds of picking No. Lloyd Pierce is taking over in Atlanta, with a reputation of helping great young talent develop — he's worked with Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and LeBron James, among many others.

Pistons passing on Donovan Mitchell bigger draft blunder than Darko Milicic pick
2 pick that year instead of Milicic — Anthony went third to the Denver Nuggets — you could argue the Rasheed Wallace trade doesn't happen, and possibly neither does the title over the Los Angeles Lakers. All of which leaves Gores three choices: start over, fire the general manager but keep the coach or give Van Gundy the keys to everything for another round.

Denver Nuggets lament losses to NBA’s worst teams after barely missing playoffs
Instead, Malone vowed to touch base with each of his players in the coming days, after they cleaned out their lockers, underwent a final physical exam and went their separate ways to begin the offseason, still dazed from a season-ending overtime defeat at Minnesota Wednesday night. And those stunning defeats did spark some key turning points, with the Phoenix loss prompting Malone to take the reins off Denver’s free-flowing offense and standout big man Nikola Jokic going on a late-season tear after getting benched in the fourth quarter against the Mavericks on March 6.
